Overnight Stays

To help you decide whether your pet needs an overnight pet sitter,  you want to consider important considerations such as:

  • Is my pet OK to be left alone at night?

  • Does the pet customarily sleep next to the pet parent?

  • Does my pet have separation anxiety without companionship?

  • Does my pet have any special needs based on their health, age, or any other condition that they would be safer and happier with professional overnight care?

What does an overnight stay include and how long do you stay?

During an overnight stay, your pet gets a lot of extra attention. Your pet sitter can give your dog or cat another feeding, give your pet some extra play and cuddle time, take your dog out for a bedtime potty break, and clean up any potty issues that may have occurred since the last visit.  We will arrive at your house no later than 9 PM ( our aim is actually for 8:30) for an 8-10 hour stay.

In the morning, we will be there to take care of your pets as soon as they get up. Their morning routines will be just like they are used to including feeding breakfast and a morning walk . We generally check-out by 7 AM or after we have completed all of your pet's morning routines.  One of the biggest benefits to having an overnight pet sitter is that your pets can stick to their regular scheduleKeeping to your pet’s schedule is key to minimizing the stress your pet may experience when you are gone.   If you need a mid-day visit or dog walk, we can book an additional visit.

What about sleeping arrangements

Ideally, we will sleep in the room where your pets will be most comfortable and  whatever location causes less stress for your pet.  Yes - your pets can sleep with us.  We bring our own sheets, comforter, and pillow.  We never use your bedding.  If there is bedding on the bed when we arrive, we strip off the bedding and place it out of the way during our stay.  We will make the bed upon our departure with the bedding that was present when we arrived so it is clean and ready for your next house guest.

What can I expect when I return home?

At the end of our overnight stay, your home will be just as clean as  when you left!   We treat your home and pets with the utmost respect.  We do not have guests, pets, or anyone in the house in your absence.  We do not smoke or consume alcohol. We bring our own bedding. We shower in our own home before we head to your residence.  We do not use your kitchen except for the refrigerator where we may store a water bottle.  At the end of our stay, we make your bed with your clean sheets so it is ready for your next guest.  We wipe any surfaces we used and clean up any pet hair.  Upon our departure your home will be just as clean as you left it.   Ideally, you should not notice anyone had been staying in your except maybe it's a little cleaner.

You can rest assured with peace of mind knowing your pets are enjoying companionship while you're away.  Overnights are particularly beneficial for pets who have separation anxiety, who need more exercise, or for dogs that are crated.

Love From Our Clients

Sherry was my pet sitter for three years before I moved. She would stay overnight while was I was vacationing and she would walk my dogs daily while I was working. I credit her with saving my dog's life.  She arrived one day when my housekeeper was cleaning, who had let the dogs out in the backyard in the summer heat and forgot them. One dog was on the ground with a blue tongue. Sherry picked her up and rushed her to the vet for emergency treatment. The vet told me had she not brought the dog in immediately she would have died within minutes. Can't say enough good things about her am thankful for her knowledge, compassion and care.
